DEFINITIONS OF REGULATED MATERIALS

 Regulated materials are substances, products, or wastes whose generation, handling, storage, disposal, treatment, or release is subject to environmental, health, safety, or other regulatory laws. 

 Control the construction, use, and occupancy of buildings and premises for safety, including fire safety.

 Grants current and former employees the right to review their personnel records and ensures transparency in how employers maintain and use such records 

 OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), often called HazCom, ensures that information about chemical hazards is communicated to workers. It aligns with the UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS) for classification and labeling 

 The plan provides the state with a framework to implement hazard mitigation strategies and is a prerequisite for receiving certain federal disaster relief and mitigation grants.
